The Look-Over
Example Studio
Boutique fitness · NE Portland
Checked 24 Aug 2026 · Caitlyn Feletar
The short version: nothing here is broken, and your reviews are stronger than most of the studios ahead of you. The gaps are all in places that are hard to see from inside the business.
Your Google listing is doing most of the work of getting you found and it is only half filled in. And when people ask an AI tool for a studio in Portland, it reads the same handful of pages every time and answers from those. You are missing from most of them.
After someone finds you, two things get in the way: your form never replies to the person who filled it out, and your hours are different in all three places people check.

Can people find you?
Found13 / 40Google Maps, for what you do
Searched pilates studio northeast portland and two similar phrases from a Portland address. You are not in the first 20 results for any of them. Four studios further away are.
Google Maps, for your name
First result. People who already know you can find you.
When someone asks AI where to go
Asked ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI answer the same question three times each. Six studios came back across the nine answers, and four of those turned up at least six times. You were not in any of them. A repeating list like that is hard to break into, but there are steps you can take.
Are you on the pages those answers are reading?
Those tools show their sources. Across the nine answers they pulled from 7 pages: three directories, two “best studios in Portland” roundups, one forum thread, and one studio’s own site. Your studio is listed on 2 of the 7. Of the five you are missing, three are directories that will add you for free.
Your Google listing, filled in
6 of 9 fields complete. No services listed, no booking link, 4 photos, nothing posted since 2024.
Do they pick you?
Chosen17 / 30Reviews
42 reviews, 4.9 average. Better than three of the four studios beating you on the map.
Review replies and recency
Newest review is 5 months old. None of the 42 have a reply from you. Both of those are visible to anyone deciding between you and someone else.
Your homepage, on a phone, in ten seconds
Says what you do. Does not say where you are or what a first class costs. First real content appears at 4.1s on a normal phone connection, mostly from two images over 2 MB.
Photos
4 on Google, none of the room itself. This is the first thing a new person looks at and the cheapest thing on this page to fix.
Can they actually book?
Booked12 / 30Clicks from your homepage to the class they want
5 clicks, and the Instagram link goes to a page that no longer exists. Your booking software is fine. The links pointing into it are not: nothing sends a person straight to a first-timer class, and your Google listing has no booking link at all.
Your contact form
Submitted a real test. It reached an inbox. The person who filled it out got nothing back, so they have no way to know it worked. On your end the only record is the email itself, sitting in your inbox with everything else.
Hours and details, in every place people check
Google says you close at 7, your site says 8, Yelp says 7:30. Name, address and phone match everywhere, which is the harder half of this and it is already right.
What this suggests you are doing by hand
Guesses from the outside, not findings. Tell me on the call which ones are wrong.
- Answering the same few first-timer questions in DMs and voicemail, because the answers are not on the site.
- Retyping the schedule in at least three places, since your site, Google and Yelp currently disagree about when you close.
- Keeping track of who asked about the intro offer in your head, because the form leaves no record you can sort.
The three I would do first
Finish the Google listing
Services, correct hours, a booking link, and 15 photos of the actual room. Biggest single gap between you and the studios ahead of you on the map.
Get onto the five pages those AI answers keep citing
Three are directory listings I can claim and fill in. One is a local roundup that takes submissions. One I would leave alone, and I will tell you why.
Make the form reply to the person
Instant confirmation to them, an alert to you, and a sortable list of who asked for what. Half a day of work, once, and it keeps working.
